This is a cooperative, information-sharing support group involved in the job search. We review and develop resumes, practice interview techniques, and plan a job campaign. Our Unitarian Universalist Story If you have questions about what UU's believe and why, and want to learn more about Unitarian Universalism and its history, this course is for you. Whether you are a prospective member, new member, or longtime member this course will give you a better understanding of the history and heritage of our denomination as well as helping you to better define your own beliefs. The Power of Myth This group will view and discuss the PBS series "The Power of Myth." Filmed on George Lucas's Skywalker Ranch in six parts, Bill Moyers has a conversation with Joseph Campbell, who was the world's foremost authority on mythology until his death in 1987. The Power of Myth ranges from the mythologies of pre-history to modern film. Campbell explains how myths are our ties to the past -- and how they help us to understand the world today and ourselves. This is a seven-session curriculum for mothers and pre-adolescent daughters. Participants explore many aspects of being female and examine society's messages about women in TV, music, and magazines. Welcoming CongregationWhat does it mean to be a "welcoming" congregation? How can we be allies to our gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered friends and family members? What issues, joys, and challenges do they face? And how can we make our community a safe and welcoming place for people with diverse lifestyles or orientations? |
