Youth / Teen Religious Education

Our high school youth group is a community that promotes respect and inclusiveness. Some basic components of our balanced youth program include worship, community, social action, learning and leadership. The group regularly meets twice a month with adults who help in providing a safe environment for all involved.

Unless otherwise announced, all get-togethers are on Sunday. One meeting is in the morning and the other is in the afternoon. Check this page for dates of upcoming meetings and other events. We participate in CONs (conferences) organized by the Youth Adult Committee of NY Metro District Young Religious Unitarian Universalists, also known as YAC of Metro District YRUU. All are welcome to join us!

We also invite our youth and young adults to become members of the FUSP congregation. Membership is open to anyone 14 years of age or older. If you are interested, please contact a representative of the Membership Committee. Our future depends on you!

Plans Are Being Made Now!

The Youth Group has decided their social action this year will be to sponsor a child (or two) by providing them with funds for education. Here are some of the organizations they are currently considering:

Children, Inc. - provides assistance to needy children in the United States and in 24 other countries around the world through already established orphanages, schools, and welfare centers.

Nivasa Foundation - focuses on supporting survivors of slavery in Sri Lanka.

International Children's Network - educates children all the way through the university level.

Plan USA - strives to achieve lasting improvements in the quality of life of deprived children in developing countries.

First Unitarian Society of Plainfield, NJ - "Imagine a Religion where All are Welcome"
Serving The Plainfields, Piscataway, Metuchen, Scotch Plains, Fanwood, Westfield, Cranford, North Edison, Middlesex, and Greenbrook since 1889.
