Social Action

Food Pantry

Three or four members volunteer each month to package and distribute food for up to 25 families in the area. The families come to FUSP on the last Saturday of each month for the distribution. During the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays we distribute extras (turkeys, hams, presents, food certificates). Last year we also hosted Christmas and Easter dinners for those in need.

Latino Neighbors Outreach Ministry

To minister to the growing number of Latino/Hispanic people in our area, we offer Spanish language films, bilingual story times for children, and English language training to our Latino neighbors.

Anti-Racism

Unitarian-Universalists have long been active in the struggle for racial justice. FUSP was one of 16 UU congregations to complete a pilot program to begin institutionalization of anti-racism and multiculturalism. The FUSP Anti-Racism Committee meets monthly to continue the struggle toward a world of equality and justice for all people.

Housing the Homeless

We are a member of the National Interfaith Hospitality Network whose goal is to provide shelter for persons who are temporarily homeless. Twice each year we support the Union County chapter of this group by housing families in our church, providing them with shelter, food, and social interaction.
